About Us

Co-Founder Casey Rice:
Casey Rice was born in Ormond Beach Florida but moved to Asheville North Carolina at the early age of 13. As the middle son of three brothers he has always had a love for the great outdoors. His first experience with hunting came when he was only 8 years old. He began by wing shooting everything from Pheasant, Quail, Ducks, and a whole lot of Dove. He quickly developed a love for all types of hunting and soon began taking Whitetail at the young age of 12. His largest animals to date are a 10 point 142" Whitetail, a record Wild Turkey with 5, yes, 5 beards (139 inches of Beard), a 52 1/2" Kudu and a 39" Gold Medal Gemsbok taken in Africa. Casey came to know cancer when his beloved father Dan was diagnosed with Melanoma. Dan was a loving father often accompanying him on many hunts, including the 5 animals taken in Africa. Sadly, after years of fighting and over 10 surgeries and beating this disease, Dan passed in late 2008. He was a loving husband to his wife Connie and an unbelievable father to his three sons Chad, Casey, and Chase. He was also an avid outdoorsman himself. I'm sure if you asked Casey he would say that Dan was a big influence on his love for the outdoors. He really enjoyed giving to children and making sure that all kids had everything they needed. This has influenced Casey very much and it is in his memory and compassion that Casey decided to co-found Hunt The Cure.

Co-Founder Jon Boggs:
Jon Boggs was also born and raised in Asheville. He developed a love for hunting and fishing at a very young age. He was given his first gun at age 7, a .410 single shot shotgun. He took his first trophy, a squirrel, shortly thereafter. Jon has hunted many animals in many states. He defines his favorites as hunting for the ever elusive Whitetail, and the Wild Boar. He also prefers the method of bow hunting for harvesting his animals and competes in many 3D shoots around the WNC area. Jon met his wife Lauren in 2006. Tragically on their first valentine's day together, Jon had to walk into a hospital room and tell his wife that the surgeons had found a football sized tumor in her chest cavity. She was then diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. A rare but aggressive form of cancer. Thankfully after 2 years of treatment she is now in remission. Lauren developed a love for hunting through her husband, and they have continued to do it together every since. It is in her honor and his compassion for people like her that he chose to start Hunt The Cure.
